Badge Semi Final Round
July 10:
Manly has excelled itself again this year in the Sydney
Badge Competition and subsequently we have 6 teams out
of 10 teams competing this Saturday in semi finals. Of
those 6 teams 3 have been crowned Minor Premiers which
is a fabulous achievement so congratulations to:
Men's Team 2
playing in div 1:5 - captained (& coached so I'm
led to believe) by Swanny!
Men's Team 6
playing in div 3:2 - captained by Ron Jeffs
Ladies Team 3
playing div 2:1 - captained by Sandra Tennant
These teams as well as Manly Men's 1 who came second in
their division (1:3) will be playing their semi final
matches at home so come on down and give them all your
support:
Midday Semis:
Ladies Team 3
Men's Team 6
2.35pm Semis:
Men's Team 1
Men's Team 2
Good Luck also to the two teams playing semis away this
weekend:
Men's Team 4
captained by Stuart Charlton who are taking on
not only the Mosman team, but probably a dodgy grass
surface as well!
Ladies Team 2
captained by Kristina Curtis who are heading up
to Terrey Hills to take on an undefeated team - now is
the time to bring out the A Game and take them down!
They have been lulled into a false sense of security so
are ripe for a loss!
Good Luck to all teams on Saturday and here's to
celebrating some winners at our annual End of Badge
dinner...
Date for your diary:
Saturday August 7th - Annual MLTC Celebratory Dinner.
Details to follow.
Please come on down on Saturday & lend your support to
all the teams, but leave those World Cup vuvuzelas at
home!!
See you at the weekend,
Regards,
Katie & the MLTC Committee

from Manly to get back to enjoy some snags & celebratory
beers!
Please confirm if you
will be attending the BBQ so I can cater accordingly!
Big Screen Events on

England v Australia One Day
Cricket from 7pm
Despite England having won the
series can Australia step up and win a one day
match? Watch the action unfold on Saturday night at the

Wimbledon Ladies Final:
This year could see Serena
Williams taking on a relative unknown - could it be the
year of the under dog!?! We'll be showing the match
live from London on the big screen...
Internal Comp 2010

9: The draws for Saturday Mens and
Womens are now finalised and available via
the Sydney Badge Tennis website (see below).
Many thanks to your patience and feedback as
the draw has been rolled out. Please read
below before viewing the draws.
For the first 3 rounds of the
competition, due to daylight savings the
matches scheduled are
From Round 4 forward this reverts to
As some clubs have requested
set times for their teams and some have
requested a rotational basis, both of these
are in effect in the draw. If there are any
further requests to time changes for any of
your teams, these can be made to
sydneybadgetennis@tennis.com.au ASAP
but no changes to round 1 times will be made
(unless in the case of a direct conflict)
Any changes to times of future rounds will
be considered and if possible implemented
with all teams in the grade notified. No
changes will be made to the home and away
structure for any team unless mitigating
circumstances. The only changes considered
will be a change from a 12:00 start to a
2:30 start or vice versa.
Please note that a number of
clubs are using outside courts to assist
with the number of teams they are fielding,
so we ask you to check the draws carefully,
especially with grades involving Cheltenham,
White City, WC Lawn and Neutral Bay
Players are also reminded
about the need for appropriate footwear
especially in regards to facilities playing
on natural grass. Flat soled shoes must be
worn on grass courts and failure to adhere
with this, will result in your team not
being allowed to play at that venue at the
discretion of the home team
As a reminder to assist with
the implementation of the online scoring
system a training session will be held on
Thursday night. Details are below and we
encourage all delegates and captains to
attend. Further documentation will be
circulated prior to the start of the
competition.
All captains and delegates,
should have received an email with login
details and if you have not please email

Scores on the Doors from
MLTC: I
can't believe it's March already and a new badge season
is almost upon us! A few news-worthy items to bring to
your attention ahead of what we hope will be another
successful Manly Badge Comp!
Manly Lawn Tennis Kit:
This year we are launching a new range of Manly Lawn
Tennis kit - Scott & Carmella have been working with
Slazenger to secure us a deal as well as sample stock so
we can try on shirts, shorts, skirts, jackets etc...
The samples have arrived and will be available for you
to try on from this Saturday for a week before we place
the orders & get embroidery done! It's fantastic kit in
Navy & White and as it's Slazenger we know that the kit
has been designed for tennis... We encourage all
to take a look and purchase as it's certainly
intimidating when a team step on court in matching
attire! This applies to social matches as well as
comp!!!
Bareena Challenge Match:
Many Thanks to those who played last Sunday on what was
one of the hottest humid days of the year! Still the
heat in the air was equally matched on court with a
smokin' performance by Manly who avenged last year's
defeat with a crushing 26-14 set win! It was a
fantastic day supported by a number of Manly members
coming to watch and highlighted what a great club spirit
we have! More details on the win can be found on the
website!
Manly Lawn Tennis Library:
What is this you're probably saying to yourself! Well
might you ask - with a few donated books we have set up
a library in the club office! Anyone keen for a book to
read on the ferry or between sets can grab a book! We
would ask that if you are taking a book that you donate
one too so that this becomes more of a book exchange and
ensures a variety of different genres to select from!
Badge Draws:
Badge draws have now gone up on the Tennis NSW website
and is available at:
